The company.

Samuels Recycling Company was founded in 1896. The Samuels family opened the first division in Portage, WI. Equipped with horse-drawn carts, Samuels Recycling Company began by handling any discarded materials which had potential reuse…metals, hides, fat, rags, bones, even feathers. To meet the needs of war plants in WWII the company began to specialize in metals. With the baby boom of the late 40's and 50's came demand for durable goods. As a result, industry continued to require all kinds of metals for manufacturing…iron, steel, and most grades of non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum, and brass.

Observing the rapid use of natural resources and foreseeing the consequent
growth of the recycling industry, Samuels has continually expanded its
offerings of products and services.

In 1974, Samuels began to recycle paper. We were also one of the first recycling firms in the state to start recycling glass and plastic.
