The company.
Samuels Recycling Company
was founded in 1896. The Samuels family opened the first division
in Portage, WI. Equipped with horse-drawn carts, Samuels Recycling
Company began by handling any discarded materials which had potential
reuse
metals, hides, fat, rags, bones, even feathers. To
meet the needs of war plants in WWII the company began to specialize
in metals. With the baby boom of the late 40's and 50's came
demand for durable goods. As a result, industry continued to
require all kinds of metals for manufacturing
iron, steel,
and most grades of non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum,
and brass.
